Hi everyone! I'm currently a senior at Coronado High School and serve as varsity chess captain. I have been playing chess since I was eight years old and would love to inspire others to love the game as much as I do. I started Nevada Chess Mates with my friend, Ethan Silva, to connect the chess community in our area, especially during times of quarantine. My wish is to help chess players get useful resources and access to online tournaments in order to develop their skills. I believe chess is highly underrated and that girls should not be afraid to play. Ladies, chess is not a gentlemen's game.

Hey everyone! I'm currently a senior at Coronado High School. I've been playing chess since second grade, but I never played often until quarantine thanks to my friends who urged me on to play, so thank you to them because chess has been a great help to cure boredom and it should definitely be exposed to more people. It doesn't matter how good or how bad you are, the game is enjoyable no matter what and I hope everyone is able to become happier and more connected through chess. I would try to end this with a good joke about chess but it has a weak opening. Sorry, that joke was a real blunder. I hope everyone's able to have fun and a good time through this game!

Hello everyone! I currently attend Advanced Technologies Academy as a senior pursuing Engineering, Computer Science, and my passion for chess. Beginning in 6th grade, I have played chess competitively within Las Vegas with success both at my middle school, Roy Martin, and my current high school with top five finishes at State competitions for two years in a row. I want to connect all of the Chess teams throughout the valley to help expand the love of chess everywhere, especially in this time of quarantine. Hans Ree once said, “Chess is beautiful enough to waste your life for,” and he is completely right! Everyone should learn from this game and enjoy it!

Hi! I’m Thu Nhi Vo, a freelance illustrator based in Las Vegas. I’ve had a passion for art for as long as I can remember as it’s given my voice over the past few years. The creative outlet drawing has given me has opened countless opportunities that I’ve been grateful to partake in from designing logos to entering statewide contests. My illustrations tend to depict things that I find my own personal joy in, whether that be varying characters, people, or the small beautiful things in life.
